PARAGUAY – SOUTH AMERICA

The foundation Fundacion Solidaridad is a non-profit organization founded in 1969 with the aim of assisting people with disabilities (PWD) and achieving their social inclusion.

It has an extensive professional record of 45 years in comprehensive rehabilitation for children, youth and adults with physical disabilities, and in the promotion of their rights through the articulation of policies and initiatives in the public and private sector, as well as peer civil society organizations.

The Foundation is oriented towards providing quality care in its products and services. Its areas include the Neuro Rehabilitation Center – CERENIF, the Orthotic and Prosthetic Workshop – ANDAR, the Educational Program for Children with Disability – PENDIF and the Employment Inclusion Service for People with Physical Disabilities – SILDIF. All these management programs were created from the identified needs of the people that attend the organization.

As of today more than 20,000 families have been benefitted from the Foundation´s services and its management programs. Currently 2,500 beneficiaries attend the Foundation in search of their social inclusion and are being benefitted with an interdisciplinary service provided all in just one place. These services include: physical and cognitive rehabilitation, emotional support, equipment, education, curriculum, adjustments, family training and counseling on accessibility and adjustments, among others.

In the last 5 years, the development of the scientific department has been intensified. More than 3,000 professionals and students were trained in scientific updating programs in the Neuro Rehabilitation area in order to stay current with the latest technology and treatments and be able to contribute their knowledge and provide good quality care to people with disabilities in the most deprived areas of the country.

The Rehabilitation Center CERENIF is presently following the guidelines provided by CARF. The center is being monitored on a regular basis by such organization with the intent to be qualified and accredited in the near future. If this occurs, Fundacion Solidaridad will be ranked second in Latin American with CARF accreditation. Furthermore, the Rehabilitation center CERENIF has been recognized by Henner Insurance as a provider organization to assist UN local employees that become injured. The Fundacion Solidaridad has many agreements signed with national and international organizations including the European Union. One of the latest agreements signed is with the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints who has a supplier agreement with the Wheelchair Foundation to provide Fundacion Solidaridad with 500 wheelchairs to be distributed throughout the country. Deloitte & Touche is the company that handles all the external auditing of the organization.
